For our first project working as a team, we were given the task of creating a movie poster, in school, within about an hour of allocated time. The movie name had to be "Behind the Mask", and we could choose any genre. We didn't have much time to do research, so we decided to go with the flow, take some pictures, and decide later on exactly how we want it to look. We quickly decided upon the genre which would be romance, and got one of our team members, Antonia, and another classmate to model. Our first step was just going around the school, and experimenting with different poses and angles. These are some of the rough pictures that we took.

We decided that the storyline would be simple but effective. Two lovers that are struggling to keep their relationship together due to the CoronaVirus, and their experience. We decided to take inspiration for the editing from Korean Drama posters. These posters vary between theme, depending on the exact theme of the movie, but these are some examples of what we were going for:

We chose what we believed to be the most suitable photo for the poster, and began editing. We used PicsArt on an ipad for this. Because we had limited time and experience, we didn't use photoshop or a more advanced software, whereas if we were to do this project in the future, we would. We chose dimmer, darker, more muted tones than those used in our inspiration photos. This is because we wanted to portray a more tragic story. For the title we chose a green shade, because we felt like it matched best, bringing together different elements of the photo like the plant in the back, and the models tie. The color green can also imply sickness, which goes with the CoronaVirus Behind the Mask theme. We tried to choose the font so that it doesn't interfere with the main image, but visible enough to be noticed. We added some writing in the back just to add an effect, and maybe some mystery, leaving the viewer wondering if it has something to do with the movie, and what exactly it may imply, and our production company name; NEVA.

FINAL RESULT:

Overall, I think it turned out okay. It's not my favorite and could have been done more professionally, but considering the limited amount of time and location that we had, I feel like we got a pretty decent result. In the future, we could definitely recreate this using more professional software and a more thought out idea in a better location. I can't wait to see our progress throughout the year and what we manage to create:)
